William Howard Hughes of Woodstock, GA. passed way peacefully on August 3, 2023. Bill was born in Easton, PA, on February 2, 1938 to William Vanderbilt Hughes and Roberta Hughes Hughes. He grew up in Milford, New Jersey, where he played football at nearby Frenchtown High School.

After receiving a degree in business from Lebanon Valley College, Bill began a 30-year career in sales for Hallmark Cards. The job brought him to Atlanta, where he met and married his second wife, Elise Manry Griffin. Bill never knew a stranger, as the Orchards of Each Cherokee community can tell you. In charge of the neighborhood's landscaping committee, he befriended everyone. He loved gardening, fishing, caring for animals -especially his dogs- and cheering on Georgia football.

But mostly he loved his family. In addition to his beloved wife, Elise, he is survived by his children, Lori Hughes Hall (Ron), William Douglas Hughes, and Scott Frederick Hughes (Paula); and Elise's children, Lisl Griffin Dickinson (Mark) and Carter Hill Griffin (Margaret). His grandchildren are Ryan Hall (Tara), Adam Hall, Carly Hall Nessmith (Cori), and great-grandson Theodore (Teddy) Nessmith; Amelia Griffin; and Griffin and Carter Dickerson. Bill is predeceased by his sister, Nancy Hughes Leidy.
