Obituary

William Hugh Joyner, Jr., known to many as Bill, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2024, in Woodstock, Georgia, at age 92. A long-time resident of Alpharetta, he resided at Holbrook in Woodstock since 2022. He was born on September 4, 1931, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, Mrs. Lillian Howard and Mr. William Hugh Joyner, Sr. The youngest and last surviving of 10, the Joyner siblings are reunited in heaven having a spectacular family reunion.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 73 years, Aurelle Barfield Joyner. Bill's legacy lives on through his children Gale (Danny), Barry (LaWanna), and Jon (Sherri); his 5 grandchildren Ashley (Jason), Whitney (Aaron), Jay, Tyler (Natalie), and Will; and his 4 great-grandchildren Nathan, Abby Kate, Ella, and Juniper.

Bill was a successful builder and served as vice president of the Homebuilders Association of Atlanta in the 1970s. He also proudly served in the Army Reserves and was a Deacon at First Christian Church of Decatur. Retiring at the age of 50, Bill dedicated his time to helping raise his grandchildren and attending all of their events, creating many special memories with them.

He enjoyed hiking, riding horses, staying informed of the news, and real estate speculation. He cherished trips to Daytona Beach, FL with his family. Although focused on health and fitness, he had a particular fondness for sweets, especially ice cream.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 13th from 5 to 7PM at Northside Chapel, 12050 Crabapple Rd, Roswell, GA 30075.
Family Graveside service will be held at Crestlawn Cemetery, 2000 Marietta Blvd NW, Atlanta, GA 30318on Friday, June 14th at 1PM.

Bill will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his hard work, and his insightful wisdom. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." (Revelation 21:4 ESV)
