About Us

Our History

Northside Northside Chapel Funeral Directors and Crematory was founded in 1995 in the community of Crabapple, located midway between Alpharetta and Roswell in North Fulton County. Our firm was founded by Rex T. Grizzle and Randy N. Norred, both longstanding members of the Alpharetta-Roswell communities. Today, the firm is owned and operated by Rex T. Grizzle’s daughter, Lucinda Degenhard, and her husband, John. Together, Lucinda and John continue the tradition of caring for families throughout the North Metro Atlanta area.

Lucinda followed in her father’s footsteps in funeral service, recognizing the importance of serving the Alpharetta and Roswell communities. She has been serving local families since 2005 and is a graduate of Reinhardt University and John A. Gupton College. As a licensed funeral director in the State of Georgia, Lucinda brings compassion, experience, and a deep commitment to helping families during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Lucinda and her husband, John, live in Alpharetta with their two children, and their family is active in Alpharetta First United Methodist Church. Her connection to the community and her personal understanding of the importance of family are central to the care she provides.

Rex T. Grizzle devoted his career to serving families in the North Metro Atlanta area and remains an important part of the history and tradition of Northside Chapel. His years of experience helped establish the foundation of service upon which the firm continues to build today.

Northside Chapel Funeral Directors and Crematory is founded upon a tradition of service. We pride ourselves on the support and commitment we have extended to families throughout the metro Atlanta area and welcome your questions and concerns at any time. We invite you to participate in a relationship we believe to be sacred and confidential, and we hope to assist you in any way possible.

Families serving families—it’s not our motto; it’s our way of life.

Our chapel and funeral home provide a beautiful atmosphere that honors all families and their wishes. Our facilities offer handicapped accessibility, ample parking, spacious staterooms, and a newly renovated area for making arrangements and selections. In October 2004, we opened our own crematory. This state-of-the-art facility features a family viewing area and is the only crematory located on a funeral home premises in Fulton County.

Our courteous and professional staff is available to serve you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
