Deborah Denise Mouchet

Deborah Denise Mouchet was the oldest of 4 siblings, the daughter of the late Lindsey Lamar Mouchet Jr. and Cecile Thompson Mouchet, and one of the few native Atlantans. From the beginning, the Mouchet family were faithful members at Morningside Baptist Church. Deborah and her siblings were always in Sunday School and church choir. Friends and church leaders looked forward to the countless fun outings at the Mouchet home in Norcross. In her adult life, Deborah was a member of Wieuca Road Baptist Church where she was active in her Sunday School Class and participated in numerous Bible studies. Deborah attended Norcross Elementary, Pace Academy, and graduated from Dykes High School. She attended Sullins College in Bristol Virginia, as well as the University of Georgia, graduating from Georgia State University. She was always an outstanding student, mastering several languages including Latin, Spanish and French. Her professional career included many years in retail sales and administrative positions. Prior to retirement in 2018, she served as a claim processor at the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs for 20 years. She was very proud to serve in this position in assisting veterans where she was able to use her language skills to help others. Deborah had a passion for horses at an early age and spent hours riding and caring for her beloved horses Lady, Freedland and her pony Smoky. As a child, Deborah always enjoyed having her friends over to ride on a Sunday afternoon. Deborah also loved gardening, bird watching and her family. Deborah is survived by Marcus & Louisa Mouchet (brother); Jimmy & Melissa Hinson (sister), Marie Mouchet (sister-in-law); Culby & Mary Beth Hinson (nephew) and Trace Hinson (grand-nephew); Celia & Granger Harpe (niece); Danielle Donehew (niece) and Walker Donehew (grand-nephew); Lindsey & Ben Cantrell (niece). She is pre-deceased by her mother and father and her brother, Lindsey Lamar Mouchet III. Deborah passed away peacefully after a battle with dementia/Alzheimer’s. The family is very grateful for her caregivers at Tapestry Assisted Living and Legacy Ridge Memory Care, Alpharetta, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Pat Summitt Foundation, (fighting Alzheimer’s disease), 520 W. Summit Hill Dr., Suite 1101, Knoxville, TN 37902, www.patsummitt.org. A private, family only, service will be held at Arlington Memorial Cemetery, Sandy Springs, Georgia with Matt Lacey, Chaplain at Legacy Ridge officiating.
