Mr. John W. Taylor

John Willard “Juppie” Taylor, 88, husband of Lula Conner Taylor, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017. Born in Alpharetta, he was the son of the late John and Ada Taylor. Juppie graduated from Milton High School and was an honor graduate of The Woodrow Wilson School of Law in Atlanta. He retired from St. Paul Insurance Company after 35 years of loyal service as a Corporate Claims Attorney and Manager. Juppie was a Grand Master of Roswell Lodge 165 F&AM and he served as the Judge of the City Court for the City of Roswell, a position he held for 19 years. He enjoyed Roswell High School athletics as a devoted fan and Booster Club member. In 2011, he was recognized by Roswell High School for his 25 years serving as the scorekeeper and clock operator for boys’ basketball. Among his highest priorities was spending time with his family and traveling with friends. Since 1992, he led his family on annual summer vacations and for many years enjoyed extensive International travels with the Lebanon Baptist Church Senior Saints. Juppie loved serving his Church, being ordained as a Deacon at age 22. He was a devoted member of Lebanon Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, had served as the Chairman of the Board of Deacons, Sunday School teacher, Pastoral Search Steering Committee member, Finance Committee member and was like a father to the Lebanon Baptist Church Pastors. Survivors include his wife, Lou Taylor of the home; two daughters, Connie T. Stinson and husband, Ed of Roswell and Sheila T. King and husband, David of Anderson, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Russ McTyre, Matt McTyre, Taylor King Young and Kendra Kaiser; seven great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, James, Ed and Charles and sisters, Elizabeth Wood Stroup and Lillie Mae Daniel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, at Lebanon Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Dick Hester and Dr. Ronnie Hughes. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at Northside Chapel, 12050 Crabapple Road, Roswell, GA 30075.
