Mrs. June E. Myers

June Edith Myers, age 75, of Alpharetta, GA passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018, surrounded by her four children. June was born in Bradenton, FL on June 25, 1942 to the late Mary Stevens and Edwin Rivers Edwards. Growing up on the beaches of Anna Maria Island, June had a life-long love for the sand and surf. Never shying away from an adventure, she crisscrossed the country while starting her family with fond memories from Augusta, GA, San Diego, CA, Brunswick, GA, Beaverton, OR and finally settling in Alpharetta, GA in 1973. Once in Alpharetta she found her church home at Alpharetta First United Methodist. There she enjoyed being an active member of the Open Door Sunday School Class for many years. She devoted herself to her role as the church’s Wedding Director as well and found great joy in working with numerous couples to help plan their special day. June was fully devoted to her children, grandchildren, church, work, and community. Whether as a room mom, Cub Scout leader, youth group leader, or cheer coach, she was always involved and supported her children’s interests with great pride. She was also fully dedicated to her work where she touched countless lives throughout her 32 years as a Teacher Assistant for Fulton County Schools. Her commitment to the classroom and her students was recognized by being awarded the 1995-1996 Fulton County Teacher Assistant of the Year. June is survived by her four children, Brent Myers (Tama) of Cumming, GA, Blair Myers (Kelli) of Nashville TN, Melissa Loftis (Josh) of Minneapolis, MN, and Meredeth Murr (Bart) of Charlotte, NC; and nine grandchildren: Barrett, Allison, Erin, Molly, Jack, Wesley, Anna Blair, Andrew and Elliott. June is also survived by her sister and brother, Mary Louise Becker (Ernie) and Ted Edwards (Deanie); four nieces Elizabeth Gerard, Stephanie Rowlands (Ryan), Joanna Frizzell (Rocky), and Kristin Prather (Jeff); and nephew, Brian McDonald. A special thank you from June’s family to her dear friends and caregivers at Northside Forsyth Hospital, Chestnut Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and Longleaf Hospice for all their love and care. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 16, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Northside Chapel. A service to celebrate June’s life will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Alpharetta First United Methodist Church.
