Mildred Dangar

Dangar – Mrs. Mildred Savannah Phillips Dangar, age 83, of Alpharetta, departed for her heavenly home January 2, 2007. Born on February 10, 1923, she was the ninth child of the late Elder Bartow Alred and Azilee Westbrook Phillips. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Eddie, Carl, B.A., Ernest, and Charlie Phillips; sisters, Mattie Holcomb, Florence Collett and Bulah Dinsmore. Mrs. Dangar was a member of Union Primitive Baptist Church Roswell, GA. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known for her faith and worshipping by singing the old school hymns. She attended Milton High School. She was a seamstress and was active in the Crossville Cinderella Home Demonstration Club assisting in the 4-H Club Programs. She and husband, Ralph Dangar, were working members of the Alpharetta Historical Society in the forming years. She was an honorary member of the Alpharetta Garden Club. She was her family historian and researcher of the Phillips, Westbrook, Day, Poole, Dangar, and Reece families. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Linton Dangar, Sr.; her two children, son, Dr. R. Linton Dangar, Jr. and his wife Ann Duncan Dangar of Atlanta, GA, daughter, Judy Dangar Walker and her husband, Ted Roosevelt Walker, Jr. of Alpharetta; sister, Ruth Albertson of Alpharetta. She is also survived by five grandchildren and their spouses: Jillian Walker Sandridge and husband; Jonathan King Sandridge of Alpharetta, Eric David Walker and his wife Cristy Richardson Walker of Alpharetta; Elliott Dangar and his wife Erin Dangar of Atlanta; Elizabeth Dangar Cleveland and her husband David Cleveland of Atlanta and Stuart Dangar of San Diego, California. Six great-grandchildren, Cole Christian Sandridge, Catherine Savannah Sandridge, Jacob David Walker, McKinsey Leigh Walker, Zoe Lawson Dangar, and Reese Katharine Cleveland, and Cameron Wylie Dangar. She is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews and Abner Phillips descendents and Thomas Westbrook descendents. Mrs. Dangar’s celebration service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2007 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Elder Edward Cagle, Elder Marty Smith, Elder Dolph Painter and Rev. James E. Sutton officiating. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery. Flowers are accepted but memorial contributions can be made to Union Primitive Baptist Church, 335 Cox Road, Roswell, Ga. 30075. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 4, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:00 PM at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors, Roswell 770-645-1414.
