Ms. Peggy Dorn Newall

Peggy Dorn Newall, age 78, of Alpharetta, Georgia passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 31, 2018. Peggy was born on June 8, 1939 in Cordele, Georgia where she was raised with the help of her grandmother, aunts and uncles. She cherished that upbringing and never forgot her roots. Her family moved to South Miami, Florida where she graduated from Coral Gables High School. Peggy attended the University of Georgia and was a life-long dawgs fan. She raised her boys in the Chamblee-Tucker area of Dekalb County where she worked hard to be involved in their activities and lives. She was blessed to have met and developed a circle of friends that lasted her a lifetime. In the early 80’s, she was fortunate to find another family at Sikkens/Akzo Nobel. What began as a temporary position grew into a career with her ultimately supporting their Group President & GM. She was fiercely loyal and proud of her Akzo family and was quick to share how on occasion she was able to travel to Holland for work. This is where she met up with her “Savannah Girls” with whom she shared more than 20 years of trips and fun. Peggy had moved Alpharetta to be close to her family and upon retirement she embarked upon being Grammie full time! She loved carpool, driving the girls around to get ice cream or to paint pottery. She flourished spending time with her granddaughters! Most who met her now would have recognized her by her smile and the way she shuffled to and from softball games, KRCS chapel services or in general any event that the girls were involved with- she didn’t miss many! In between she loved family dinners, lunch out with friends, talking on her flip phone, reading and becoming close friends with her neighbors. Grammie was an avid gardener, enjoyed decorating her house and cherishing all of her “little” things. Grammie loved well- her family, friends, co-workers and neighbors and her son, Matthew, who she spent a life time loving and making happy! Peggy is survived by her son, Matthew (Gay) and three grandchildren, Anna Kate, Lily, and Megan as well as many other relatives and friends. Peggy was preceded in death by her son, Stephen, and her loving parents, Mr. & Mrs. Robert W. Dorn Jr. (Gracie). A service celebrating Peggy’s life will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors. Visitation will be held before the memorial service between 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Peggy Newall’s honor to the Will to Live Foundation at www.will-to-live.org.
