Mrs. Amy Joan Blocker

Amy Joan Reames Blocker , age 77 of Valdosta, Georgia died at her current home in Roswell, Georgia on November 9, 2015 after a long battle with various illnesses. She was born in Kershaw, South Carolina and was the daughter of the late Louis R. Reames and Mary Alice Reames. Mrs. Blocker was a proud resident of Valdosta for over 50 years. Mrs. Blocker was a 1955 graduate of Valdosta High School in Valdosta, Georgia. After graduation, she had a long and distinguished career working as a Financial Services Executive at the Credit Bureau of Valdosta and later at South Georgia Medical Center until her retirement. After her beloved husband, Earl Blocker , died in 2013, she moved to Roswell, Georgia to be closer to her family. She loved to cook, perform yardwork, make pottery, swim, boat and in her young days even water ski. Mrs. Blocker was an active participant in various civic and philanthropic programs during her lifetime and was a lifelong member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church in the Valdosta, Georgia. However, her real passion and love were for her four children and six grandchildren and was an active participant in all of their special events throughout her life. Survivors include: Her two sons: Russell Randolph Blocker and and his wife Kim Blocker-Anchorage AK, and Maxwell Earl Blocker –Atlanta GA. Her two daughters: Alice Elizabeth Kiffmeyer and her husband Edward Kiffmeyer- Jacksonville, FL. and Donna Blocker Sullivan and her husband S. Andrew Sullivan- Atlanta, GA. Grandchildren include: Ashley Marlene Blocker, Brandon Maxwell Blocker, Brittany Morgan Blocker, Maryjane Elizabeth Kiffmeyer, Cameron Vincent Kiffmeyer, Andrew Reames Sullivan and Kaitlyn Elizabeth Sullivan. She has a surviving brother-L. Phillip Reames of Atlanta, GA and sister-in-laws Janie Reames of Atlanta, GA and Anita Reames of Valdosta, Ga. In addition, she also has three surviving sisters-in-law including Ola DeLoach of Glennville, GA. , Medra Purvis of Savannah, GA. and Emogene Deas of Springfield, GA. as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends. Mrs. Blocker was preceded in death by her husband and parents noted above, and her brother- Don Reames. In addition, she was preceded by eight brother-in-laws and three sister-in-laws. Services : A Celebration of Life event will be held at Northside Chapel and Funeral Home in Roswell, Georgia Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 7p.m. In addition, there will be a Graveside Service at Harmony United Methodist Church in Glennville Georgia on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 3 p.m. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.northsidechapel.com.
