Mr. Arthur Claude Darr

Arthur Claude Darr passed away Sunday, January 27th, 2019, at his home in Peachtree Corners, GA after a brief battle with cancer. He was 60 years old. Arthur was born on January 29th, 1958 in Washington, DC, and was raised in Chevy Chase, MD. He was a graduate of Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School where he played the alto saxophone in the jazz band. He spent his childhood summers at Camp Chatuga and enjoyed being a counselor there as a teenager. He also loved camping as a Boy Scout. Arthur earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at North Carolina State University. While earning his degree, he played club volleyball and became a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Arthur married Kathy Weaver on September 21st, 1996 on Hilton Head Island. They raised two children, a son, Colby, and a daughter, Nina. Arthur was always busy with family activities which included leading Colby’s Cub Scout troop and coaching his club volleyball team. He always looked forward to escorting Nina to the Father/Daughter Dance and the annual camping weekend with Nina’s Girl Scout troop. Arthur had a successful career in project management for more than 33 years. He was Director of Project Management for Avenu Insights & Analytics State and Local Government group. Arthur enjoyed many hobbies including hiking, fishing, camping, cycling, traveling, cooking, and gardening. He was an avid music lover extending across a wide variety of genres. He was a regular Guest Services volunteer at North Point Community Church where he and his family attended. Arthur is survived by his wife, Kathy Weaver Darr, his son, Colby Darr, his daughter, Nina Darr, his parents, Charles and Florence Flagg Darr, his twin sister, Cindy (Rob) Garver, his father-in-law, Richard Weaver, sister-in-law, Wendy Weaver Henze, niece, Katie Garver, and his nephew Russ Garver. A Celebration of Arthur’s Life will be held on Friday, February 8, at 11:00 a.m, at North Point Community Church, 4350 North Point Parkway, Alpharetta GA 30092.
