Catherine Joan Pollard

Catherine Joan (Willard) Pollard, 97, of Roswell, GA, (formerly of Mt Zion, IL) died peacefully in her sleep Friday morning, February 4, 2022. She was born December 25, 1924, in Beloit, Wisconsin to Charles and Hazele (Willard. She married Robert L. Pollard on April 25, 1946 at Our Saviour Church in Beloit, Wisconsin. Survivors include: her husband of 75+ years, Robert; children - Catherine Kim Diaz (Springfield, IL), Br Bartholomew, OCSO (Thomas Pollard) of Gethesamani Abbey, Trappist, KY, Susan Pollard (Acworth, GA), and Anne Johnson & husband Christopher (Roswell, GA); grandchildren - Catherine Gentry & husband David Gentry (Springfield, IL), David Diaz (Skokie, IL), Daniel Diaz (Decatur, IL), and Jonathan Diaz (Hammond, IL); great grandchildren - Andrew and Brendan Gentry (Springfield, IL) and Abel, Leo and Alice Diaz (Hammond, IL); nieces - Carol and Elle; and nephew - Bill. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Patrick Pollard, and son in law Leonard Diaz. Catherine graduated from Beloit High School in 1943 and attended Marquette University. She worked at the Milwaukee Journal during World War II. She was a homemaker, and active in Girl Scouting and D.A.R. She served as a board member for Macomb, Two Rivers and Mark Twain Girl Scout Councils and also as Regent for Ah Dah Wa Gem Chapter of D.A.R. in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Catherine loved being with her family, participating in and helping with church activities. Other interests included traveling, camping and fishing, gardening, dancing, big band music, swimming, tennis, softball, and the Green Bay Packers. She was an avid reader and loved to play card and board games and bridge. In 2018, Catherine & Bob were recognized by Worldwide Marriage Encounter of GA as the longest married couple in GA (then married 72 years). She will be greatly missed, but be treasured and remain alive in the hearts of her family. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 11 at St. Peter Chanel Church, Roswell, GA. Internment at Eastlawn Cemetery in Beloit, WI will be Saturday, Feb. 19 at 1:00 pm.
