Mrs. Cecelia Lynnett Carter

When we went to bed Wednesday night, March 22, we were all sojourners still stuck in this fallen world. On the following morning, at 6:21am at her home in Woodstock, Georgia, Cecelia L Carter met her Lord and Savior Jesus, and is now in Paradise with him for all eternity. What a glorious day! Cecelia Lynnett (McCullough) Carter, 66, was born in Charleston, Illinois to Simpson P. and Alma E. McCullough. She married Richard (Rick) Carter on Saturday, June 29, 1974 at University Baptist Church in Charleston. Her life centered around her husband who loved her dearly, their children, Jason Charles Carter, 43, Erica Lynn Carter, 41, and Derek Leslie Carter, 35, and her ministry to children in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Summer Church Camps, and Children’s Music Ministry at churches in Illinois and in Georgia. Celia and her husband taught 5th Grade Sunday School together for over 17 years, prepared and held more than a dozen children’s Easter and Christmas presentations, and Celia never missed teaching children in Vacation Bible School her entire adult life. Celia was a graduate of Charleston High School, Charleston, Illinois, Lakeland Community College, Mattoon, Illinois, and is survived by her husband, Rick Carter of Woodstock, Georgia; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Elsie M. Carter of Mattoon, Illinois; her children, Jason and Carrie (Winter) Carter, Cumming, Georgia, Erica (Carter) and Phillip Ledford, Dawsonville, Georgia, and Derek and Lindsay (Marcisz) Carter, Oxnard, California; her brothers, Brent and Janet (Cougill) McCullough, Charleston, Illinois, Terry and Judy (Durham) McCullough, Athens, Alabama, and Carol (McCullough) and Reggie Galey of Charleston, Illinois; and her four grandchildren, Makenzie & Makayla Ledford, and Luke & Cara Reese Carter; brothers-in-law Tom (Gail) Carter of Janesville, Wisconsin, Don (Sonya) Carter of Littleton, Colorado, sisters-in-law, Jeanne M. Berk of Dedham, Massachusetts, Cynthia (Liam) Downey of Boulder, Colorado, and Barb Carter (Marc Moskovitz) of Durham, North Carolina, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The joy she is now experiencing after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer is an exceedingly great comfort and source of praise to our King Jesus. We will be celebrating her life in a Service of Witness to the Hope in Christ of the Resurrection and in Memory of Cecelia L. Carter in the Worship Center at Crabapple First Baptist Church, Milton, Georgia on Tuesday, March 27 at 1:00pm. Visitation at the church will be held prior to the service from 11:00am to 12:30pm. Following visitation and the service, Interment will be held at Crabapple Cemetery, Charlotte Drive in Milton, Georgia. All who would like to attend a light luncheon immediately following the graveside service are welcome to return to the church Fellowship Hall with the family. The family welcomes flowers and/or donations in lieu of flowers to The Humane Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
