Edward Andrew Shippey

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Edward Andrew Shippey. Born on August 15, 1951 in Atlanta, Georgia, Edward departed this world on April 24, 2026 with grace and serenity at hospice care, surrounded by the love of family and the comforting memories of a life rich with love and laughter. Edward was the beloved son of the late Edward Roy Shippey and Winifred Emma Jantz Shippey. He joins them in eternal rest alongside his cherished family members, Judith Alison Shippey, Bruce Edward Shippey, Peter Norman Rawlins, and William Norman Rawlins. His spirit and memory will forever be cherished by his surviving family members: his dear sister Hollice Shippey Wilson and her husband Sonny, his loving nieces and nephews Derrick Martin, Andrea Martin, Denise Rawlins, Mansell Rawlins, Elizabeth Rawlins, Brente Shippey, David Shippey, and Austin Shippey, as well as numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Edward shared 25 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Gwen Enid Tree. Their union was a testament to love's enduring power, filled with mutual respect, shared joys, and the warmth of companionship that only true soulmates know. A proud graduate of Jim Cherry High School in Brookhaven, Georgia, Edward dedicated 25 years of his life to serving the DeKalb County, Georgia Department of Education as a maintenance worker. His commitment and work ethic were admired by colleagues and friends alike, forming the backbone of a career that touched many lives. Edward's heart was as expansive as his talents. Known for his infectious laugh and kind spirit, he brought joy to everyone he met. He had a profound passion for dancing, a talent that made him the centerpiece of any dance floor. His love for rhythm and movement was matched only by his affection for the many cats he cared for throughout his life, companions that brought him immeasurable joy. Edward's life will be celebrated on May 23, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Ebenezer Cemetery, located at 12890 Arnold Mill Road, Roswell, GA. Friends and family are invited to honor a life that was a dance of love and laughter, to share stories, and to remember the joy Edward brought into the world. Though our hearts are heavy, we find solace in the memories of Edward's laughter, his kindness, and his unwavering love for those around him. His legacy is one of compassion, joy, and an unyielding spirit that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
