Eleanor Holman

Eleanor Francis Clay Holman passed away peacefully with her family at her side on March 10, 2014 at the age of 80. She was born on May 9, 1933 in Chapel Hill, TN. to the late Henry Philip Clay and (Addie) Alta (Darnell) Clay. Survivors include her beloved husband of 58 years, Troy Holman; two daughters, Denise Holman - Roswell, GA. and Diane (Dennis) French - Milton GA.; two sons Stephen Holman Savannah GA, and Eric (Eileen) Holman – Kennesaw, GA. Four Grandchildren Daniel and Jennifer French – Atlanta, GA. And Garrett and Chandler Holman Kennesaw, GA. She is preceded in death by her daughter Benita Sue Holman at birth in 1960. Upon marriage, July 17, 1955, Eleanor and her family moved to their home in Nashville, TN, until Troy was transferred to Atlanta, GA, in October, 1962. They resided in Decatur, GA, until their move in September, 1970, when they moved to Roswell, GA. Eleanor enjoyed life as a stay-at-home mother and involvement in church, school, and communities. The family joined First Baptist Church in 1971 where a great joy was teaching Sunday School for 2- and 3-year-old children for 19 years. Following that, she and Troy became members of the Faithful Friends Sunday School Class where she enjoyed serving the class in many ways. Family was the centerpiece of her life, teaching and serving their needs. She and Troy took the family on vacations to the beach in Gulf Shores, AL, for 24 consecutive years. Eleanor enjoyed giving to and serving others and joined the Roswell Lions Club over 10 years ago. She also loved to travel and went on many trips with church friends. Some of the highlights being a cruise, Las Vegas, numerous trips to Bill Gaither gospel music concerts at various locations throughout the South, visits to Pennsylvania Amish Country and Branson, MO. She surely will be missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that contributions be directed to the Emory Alzheimer’s Disease Center, Emory Health Sciences Development, 1440 Clifton Rd., Suite 112, Atlanta, Georgia 30322, in memory of Eleanor F. Holman.
