Erin Marie Horst

Erin Marie Horst came into this world in the same manner that she approached everything in her life, with lots of speed and enthusiasm (except picking up her room), on June 28, 1996. Erin was an exceptional young lady who had a passion for serving others, especially those people and animals who don’t have a voice. Erin passed this world into the arms of her Savior on Wednesday January 29, 2014, and we take great joy in knowing she rests easy and she is completely pain free, joyous and happy. Erin had many interests, she was an avid outdoorswoman, she loved hiking and backpacking, camping and fishing. She was a passionate advocate for sheltered animals and those needing a home. She volunteered at Crabapple Vet Clinic and took dogs home so she could play with them and love on them. She had two of her own dogs, Maddie and Reese…who she loved to the moon. Erin was a gifted musician, she played the drums in her Church Praise Band at Northbrook United Methodist Church and was in the band at her School, Mill Springs Academy. She was an active athlete, playing Basketball, Tennis, Softball and this year tried Volleyball. She was active in her Church Youth Group at Northbrook. She also loved to cook, and often treated her family, friends and neighbors to homemade treats and meals. Erin had a giant heart, she was so giving and considerate, paying attention to interests and concerns of others and always offering a prayer, encouraging word and often a gift. Erin loved to entertain smaller children, and was very engaging and conversive with anyone that would lend an ear. Erin loved her family and family friends, and everyone loved her that knew her and could see her heart. She was sensitive and caring – and very intuitive and sensitive about others feelings. Erin is survived by her parents, Darren and Stacy Horst of Roswell, GA, her sister, Rachael Horst of Savannah GA and Stacey Langan of Louisville. She had loving Aunts and Uncles – Eleanor Farrell of Oxnard, CA, – Great Aunt, Dr. Skip and Teri Beeler of Cocoa Beach, FL , Jack and Jodya Farrell of Philidelphia, PA, Dianne and Clayton Osborn of Troy, MI, Reverend Denise and Dr. Dennis Marikis of Mt. Vernon, OH, Dirk and Lisa Horst of Stewart, FL. Cousins Andy Marikis, Leah Marikis, Katie Lane, Kelsey and Troy Phillippe, Dori and Greg Scott , Amanda Charles, Sean and Leslie Beeler, Tess and Brad Baldwin, John Farrell and Alex Farrell. She was so loved and will be missed by close family friends Julia and Jim Pezzi and Family, Chris and Mellissa Bacon and Family, Bruce and Liz Maybriar and Family, Randy and Cathy Green and Family, Tim and Kelly Hamilton and Family, Darrell and Susie Kinkaid and Family and Andy and Sherri Swimmer and Family, Mike and Kelly Price and Family and Rob and Terry Frank and family…and so many others…it would fill a book. We will celebrate Erin’s life on Saturday, February 1 2014, 11:00 AM at Northbrook United Methodist Church, Roswell, Ga. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Erin Horst Memorial Fund – c/o Northbrook UMC.
