Mr. George F. Burcher Jr.

George F. Burcher, Jr., 64, of Woodstock, GA passed away suddenly of natural causes on June 16, 2022. George grew up in East Cobb, Roswell, GA where he graduated from Walton High School. Soon after graduation George accepted a position with Cobb County Schools where he gave service for over 40 years, 30+ of which were at Sprayberry High School. George was well-known and respected by the staff, teachers and students over his many years there. He loved the school and supported all aspects of the Sprayberry community during his various custodial positions. Many recognitions were bestowed upon George over the years for his dedication to various aspects of the school including the staff, teachers, coaches, students and extracurricular teams. The Cobb County Board of Education also recognized George for over 40 years of continuous dedication in 2019. In addition to George’s work at Sprayberry, George loved to travel and followed all high school, college and professional sports. His favorite pastime was following NASCAR racing and he has traveled all across the nation to go to NASCAR races at many different venues, many of which were with his nephews. Family was most important to George. He loved his nephews and played a crucial role in their upbringing and development. They all had a great relationship with George and a great deal in common. He took them to many places and they did many things with Uncle George…he definitely had a gift for young people. George was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frederick and Olivia Warren of Faison, NC and Donnie and Grace Burcher of Louisa, VA; his parents, George F., Sr. and Virginia W. Burcher of East Cobb/Roswell, GA; and his younger brother, Warren Donald Burcher. George is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Olivia and Hunter Bishop of Powder Springs, GA; 3 nephews, Douglas Bishop and his wife, Steph, and daughter, Waverleigh, of Powder Springs, GA, Brandon Bishop and his wife, Victoria, of Woodstock, GA, and Chandler Bishop of Powder Springs, GA; and cousins, Melville F. Warren, Jr. and his family from Dover, DE and Jeanne Thomas and family from NC. George is also survived by his chosen family Steve and Catherine Peek, their 3 children and 5 grandchildren, all of which were very precious to him. The family will be receiving guests on Friday, June 24, 2022 from 9:00AM to 10:30AM at the Northside Chapel Funeral Directors, 12050 Crabapple Road, Roswell, GA 30075. Immediately following the receiving there will be a Celebration of Life beginning at approximately 10:30AM in the Chapel there. The Reverend Steve Crowley will be officiating. The Family of Steve and Catherine Peek invite everyone to their home at 1050 Lancaster Square, Roswell, GA 30075 after the funeral service for a luncheon reception. We look forward to seeing you there. A private family Interment will be held at Ebenezer Methodist Cemetery. George will be buried next to his mother.
