Haynes K. Lewis-Nguessan

Haynes K. Lewis-Nguessan (JB), 15 of Roswell, GA died May 16, 2016 as a result of a seizure. He was born on November 27, 2000 in Silver Springs, Maryland, the beloved, eldest son of Kouassi Nguessan and Selaih K. Lewis-Nguessan and the older brother of Shale K. Lewis-Nguessan. He attended Independence High School in Alpharetta, Georgia where he was a freshman. JB was enrolled in the Fulton County School System in 2006 and was very fond of school. He was well-known and adored by his teachers and staff. He was known for his unique laugh and showed it exuberantly by jumping around with excitement. He enjoyed playing water activities and was known for being well-dressed, clean and tidy. He was a stickler for keeping things neat and in order. He liked to take long walks in the park and his favorite snacks where popsicles, sweet potato chips, bubble gum, fries and cereal bars which he liked to refer to as “cake”. JB is survived by his parents Kouassi Nguessan of the Ivory Coast, West Africa and Selaih K. Lewis-Nguessan of Blytheville, Arkansas and his brother Shale K. Lewis-Nguessan of Silver Springs, Maryland. He also leaves behind his paternal grandparent; Christine Nguessan of the Ivory Coast and his maternal parents, Tommy Lewis and Gwendolyn Woodson of Arkansas. He is also survived by his paternal aunts and uncles; Joel Nguesssan, Odette Sarr, Rosalie Niamien, Yvonne Yao, Catherine Yhaye, Alexis Nguessan, Blandine Kouassi and Kouadio Pelagie all of the Ivory Coast, West Africa. His maternal aunts; Tracey Martin of Arkansas, Cherise Olmo of Illinois, great aunts; Doris Pitts of Pennsylvania, Barbara Redmond of Arkansas, Linda Haynes of Tennessee, Annette Vanwinkle of Texas, great uncles; Samuel Stewart, Jr., of Tennessee, Danny Stewart, Frederick Stewart, Trent Stewart of Arkansas and many cousins and even a great-great aunt along with his great-grandfather, Samuel Stewart both of Arkansas. JB was a lovely, gentle-natured child with a humorous personality. He loved the simple things in life. His laughter could be heard from far and it would instantly lift your spirit. He had a wonderful gift of creating warmth and caring within people. His former teachers would often tell his mother, “We love JB” and they never gave up on him. At times, he was affectionately called “Big JB”and “Sugar Bear” and was the apple of his parent’s eye. He was loved and protected by his younger brother Shale and despite the age gape, they had a calming effect on each other that was priceless. JB had a very strong connection with his mother who cherished him and devoted all of her time and efforts towards his care and rearing. Despite his special needs, he was a quick learner and paid close attention to every little detail whenever he was taught and he could replicate your actions after just one lesson. At a very young age, he was an ingenious problem solver and as he grew older, he learned to modify things on his own to accommodate his needs. He championed his independent self-help skills and loved consistent routines. As a result of the healthy lifestyle that his dedicated mother created for him, JB flourished and grew quite tall and robust. He was the epitome of youthfulness and good health. At birth, his dedicated mother created the optimal diet that she meticulously prepared for him. He also had a personal trainer and essential therapies that contributed to his overall well-being. When he was very young, he and his mother watched the classic Walt Disney movie, “The Lady and The Tramp” and it soon became one of his favorite movies. He memorized every song and would often join his mother in singing the beautiful song called, “La La Lu.” LA LA LU “La La Lu, La, La, Lu, Oh my little star sweeper I’ll sweep the stardust for you, La La Lu, little soft fluffy sleeper Here comes a pink cloud for you. La La Lu, La La Lu, little wandering Angel Fold up your wings, close your eyes. La La Lu, La La Lu, and may love be your keeper. La La Lu, La La Lu, La La Luuuuuu. There now, mama’s little star sweeper, dream on.” JB, our beloved son, brother, grandchild, cousin and nephew will be deeply missed by all. We will always cherish your memory; you will forever hold a special place in our hearts. You have touched not only the lives of your family, but the lives of so many people. Thank you JB for your amazing light that inspired us to be better human beings. Every moment spent with you was a gift and blessing. We will always love you. Funeral Arrangements are being held by the Northside Chapel Funeral Directors and Crematory at 12050 Crabapple Road, Roswell, GA 30075. The visitation will be held on Saturday, May 28th from 5-7p.m. and Sunday, May 29th from 1-4p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you deliver directly to the funeral home. Family and Friends to fellowship at the conclusion.
