Mr. James Philip Doyle

James P. Doyle (Jim) passed away peacefully at his home in Atlanta, Georgia on July 14, 2017 after a long and courageous struggle with complications of prostate cancer. He was 79. He was predeceased by his parents James and Mae A. Doyle, his grandson Michael Frame, his brother Edward Doyle, and his son-in-law Thomas Morris. Born and raised in Parkchester, NY, Jim graduated Manhattan Prep High School and Manhattan College with his Bachelor of Business Administration. Jim married the love of his life, Rosemary Fox, on November 19, 1960. They started their family and lived in Yorktown Heights, NY, Rochester, MN, Ridgefield, CT, Atlanta, GA, New Fairfiled, CT, Schaumburg, IL, Savannah, GA and finally again in Atlanta, GA. Jim spent most of his business career with IBM, retiring in 1997 after 35 years of service. At that time he was Vice President of Human Resources and Administration for Advantis, a Networking Technology company, where IBM was the majority investor along with Sears. Prior executive positions include Vice President Human Resources, ROLM, a telecommunication partnership between IBM and Siemens, Director of Employee Relations for IBM, Vice President Management Services, IBM Latin America and Director of Personnel for IBM’s Southwest Marketing Division. In addition to a wonderful career, IBM provided him with many life long friends that he treasured. Jim and Rosemary retired to The Landings in Skidaway Island in 1997. He enjoyed playing in several golf groups as well as participating in couples Pinochle, Hearts, and book club groups. The Landings provided them wonderful friends who they traveled the world with as well as enjoyed the pleasures the city of Savannah had to offer. They relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in June of 2016. Jim is survived by Rosemary Catherine Doyle, his loving wife of 56 ½ years and his five children Kitty Liebeg (Kevin) of Victoria, MN, Mary Anne Morris of Birmingham, AL, James Doyle (Robin Gonsalves) of Pleasanton, CA, Deirdre Doyle (David Frame) of Roswell, GA, and Rosey McCrobie (Ted) of Woodstock, GA, as well as twelve grandchildren. Kasey Liebeg, Carson Liebeg, Thomas Morris, Sean Morris, Jimmy Doyle, Bridget Frame, Vivian Frame, Aidan Frame, Peter Frame, Daniel McCrobie, Katie Rose McCrobie, and Grace McCrobie. Jim loved his family fiercely. He was a wonderful husband to Rosemary, fabulous father to his children, loving Grandpa & Bumpa to his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a devoted, generous, compassionate and loving man. All that knew him were blessed with his friendship, love & support. While very proud of his children’s accomplishments in life, those of his grandchildren put him over the moon. Jim was larger than life and left his mark on all his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. Jim fought the good fight, he won the race and we are confident he was welcomed into Heaven by his Lord & Savior with the words ‘well done my good and faithful servant.’ Visitation will be Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 6pm-8pm at Northside Chapel, Roswell, GA. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, August 17th at 4pm at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church, Roswell, GA. Private Internment Saturday August 19th at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Birmingham, AL. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial gifts in Jim’s name to either Manhattan College (4513 Manhattan College Parkway, Bronx, NY 10471, attn.: Mary Malone) or American Cancer Society.
