Mrs. Joyce W. Samples

Joyce Walker Samples passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, October 17th. She was an Alpharetta native-born July 16, 1937 to the late J.W, (Joseph Wesley) Walker & Janelle Wright-Walker of Milton. In addition to her parents; she is preceded in Death by her Sister, Patricia Walker Lance and her brother, Joseph Wesley Walker, Jr. Joyce was a faithful and beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Aunt and loyal friend. Her lifelong faith and relationship with Jesus Christ sustained her. She was a long time member Of Alpharetta First Baptist Church and earlier Hopewell Baptist Church of which she always had a special love. She was An avid member of The Alpharetta Historical Chapter and a contributor to several historical books written about the history of Alpharetta. Joyce retired after 25 years from the North Fulton School system where she served as School Secretary at Northwestern Elementary and then Crabapple Crossing. She loved children and always enjoyed investing and caring for them. After Retirement she enjoyed the antique business, spending time with her grand-niece, nephews, grandchildren, and husband Lester of 59 years. Joyce loved the lord and was always an available servant for anyone in need. Joyce is survived by her husband, Lester C, Samples of Alpharetta, Daughter Nina Samples of Alpharetta, Son Barry & Debbie Samples of Cumming, Grandchildren Ashley & Josh Corner, Adam & Morgan Samples and Alyssa Samples of Cumming, Nephews, Todd & Marianne Lance of Destin, Fl. Randy Lance, Atlanta, Brent Walker of Newnan, Ga., Scott & Paula Walker of Alpharetta and Ryan and Marna Walker of Frisco Colorado, great-Nieces Caroline and Taylor Walker, and nephews, Blake and Zach Lance, Thomas, Jackson and Liam Walker, among other relatives and friends. The family will receive visitors Tuesday, October 20, from 2:00p.m.-4:00p.m. & 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m. at. Northside Chapel Funeral Directors. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 21, at 11:00a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bud Sutton, Rev. Keith Niager and Rev. Ed Schrader officiating. Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation in her honor may be made to: Alpharetta First Baptist Church, Care Ministry, or Feed the Children, USA.
