Mrs. Lenore Patricia Durlacher

Lenore Patricia Durlacher, 68, of Roswell, Georgia passed away at her home on Friday, August 22, 2014 after a courageous struggle with cancer. She was born on November 6, 1945 in Wayne, New Jersey to August J. Hintz and Dorothy Orr Hintz. Lenore is preceded in death not only by her parents, but also her husband of 35 years, Wayne F. Durlacher. She is survived by her grateful son, Erich and his wife Ashley; three devoted grandchildren, August, Lily, and Elsa; her Uncle and Aunt, Ronald and Whitney Orr; and a long list of treasured friends. Lenore graduated from Wayne Valley High School fifty years ago and went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She made lasting friendships everywhere she lived over the past five decades, from Pompton Plains, New Jersey to Carmel Valley, California to Mandeville, Louisiana to Birmingham, Alabama to Roswell, Georgia. And, no matter where she called home, Lenore was always the world’s best wife and mother to her family, even though they tested her from time to time. Lenore had a diverse career that ranged from being an elementary school librarian to an administrator of an assisted living facility. But, her lifelong passion was decorative painting, which she loved to share with her family and friends. Lenore was a talented and gifted artist who was always looking to make new friends over a palette of acrylic paint (and, in earlier years, a glass of Chablis and the songs of Willie Nelson). One of her many artistic highlights was having a painted ornament hang on the White House Christmas Tree. Lenore was a parishioner of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Roswell, Georgia where she attended daily mass, volunteered her time, and made many dear friends. A funeral service will be held at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Roswell, Georgia, on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive friends afterwards at the home of Erich and Ashley. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, Development Office, 1762 Clifton Road, Suite 1400, Atlanta, Georgia 30322 or Weinstein Hospice, 3150 Howell Mill Road, N.W., Atlanta, Georgia 30327-2108.
