Linda Thode

THODE - Linda Brennan Thode, of Woodstock, GA. Died April 5, 2009 at the age of 44 after her courageous and inspiring fight with cancer. Linda was born November 20, 1964 in Elmhurst, Illinois to Edward and Lois Brennan of Burr Ridge, Illinois. Linda was a loving wife and dedicated mother and is survived by her husband Joel and four children, daughters Karli, Sydney and Shelby and son Joey. She is also survived by two sisters, Cindy Walls (John) and Sharon Lisnow, and three brothers, Ed Brennan (Debbie), Don Brennan (Kim) and John Brennan (Jean), as well as numerous nephews and nieces who she loved very much. .Linda had an active and full life, attending Hinsdale Central High School in Hinsdale Illinois and Crestwood High School in Dunwoody, GA. Linda earned a degree in education at Vanderbilt University, and was also an enthusiastic leader of the university's cheerleading squad. After graduation, Linda fulfilled her professional dream of teaching, doing so for many years in Pine Mountain Middle School in Kennesaw, GA, and later becoming an administrator in the Cobb County School District. Among her many pastimes was a love of running and exercise, and she also had a keen eye for interior design, a skill which was utilized on many occasions by her family and friends. Linda was proud to serve on the Catholic Archdiocese Board of Education, representing her beloved Queen of Angels School. She also served countless hours in various volunteer assignments in her children's schools, where her extraordinary talents and energy were directed toward many great causes. Her lessons of kindness, compassion, and commitment to success will be remembered by all of the students and teachers with whom she worked, as well as her friends with whom she shared life's special moments. Linda's unwavering passion was that which she felt about her family. Linda was a proud and dedicated mother, spending long hours after school, and on the evenings and weekends as a happy and willing supporter of her children's extracurricular activities, whether it was baseball, soccer, basketball, or dancing. Her special smile, cheerful disposition, and incredible personal strength were evident throughout her life. Over the last two years those admirable traits have been impressively displayed and have made a lasting impression on her family, friends, and the many healthcare providers who so lovingly provided support. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Michael Carter Lisnow Respite Center, 112 Main Street, Hopkinton, MA 01748. The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 10:30 AM at Saint Peter Chanel Catholic Church in Roswell, GA. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 from 6 to 8 PM at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors and Crematory Roswell, GA. 770/645-1414
