Mrs. Lou Janas

Mary Louise “Lou” Rainey Janas, age 92, died Nov 29, 2018 at her home at St. George Village, Roswell, GA. She was born Sept. 9, 1926 in Manchester, NH to Ernest and Genevieve (Golding) Rainey. Lou was a graduate of Trinity College, Washington, DC, with a BA in Sociology in 1948. She married Stephen Edward Janas, June 24, 1950 in Ridgewood, NJ and raised a family of eight children in Chicago, Ill, Minneapolis, MN and Doraville, GA. Lou was active in Women’s Club, Stephen Ministries and as an Extraordinary Minister in her parish churches and volunteered her time generously at the children’s schools and at St. Vincent de Paul Society. She loved the beach, travel and family. She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity, her hearty laugh, infectious smile and enthusiastic bridge playing-- “better to go down than to underbid!” Survivors include Patti (Janas) and John Fox, Sioux City, IA; Eileen Janas, Arlington, VA; Stephen and Julia (Adair) Janas, Marietta, GA and daughters Caroline (Janas) and Josh Bradford, Marietta, GA and Knox and Colt Bradford (Great Grandsons) and Melanie (Janas) and Justin Elgin, Atlanta, GA and Ford Elgin(Great Grandson); Thomas and Barbara (Meyer) Janas, Delano, MN and their children Paul, Laura, Joseph and Rachel (Duran), Leo, and Anne; Michael and Nancy (Scoggins) Janas, Marietta, GA and children Haley and Stephen; Mary (Janas) and Todd Reese, Lawrenceville, GA and their children Pamela (Reese) and Xander Grado, Bridget, and Ryan; Barbara (Janas) and John Kemner, Cumming, GA and sons Sean and Kevin; Jeannie (Janas) and Frank Hall, Greensboro, NC and children Michael, Katie, James, Jackson, and Luke; and a sister Arline Hamel, of Selbyville, DE. Lou was preceded in death by Stephen, her husband of 64 years, and two brothers, Ernest and John. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church or your local St. Vincent de Paul Society in honor of Lou Janas. Visitation will be 6:30-8:00pm at Northside Chapel on Dec. 3 with a 10:30am funeral Mass at St Peter Chanel Catholic Church on Dec 4. Arrangements handled through Northside Chapel
