Mrs. Martha Hickle

Martha Frances Hickle of Roswell, Georgia passed away peacefully on January 11, 2015. Martha was born in January 10th in Jeffersonville, Ohio to Paris and Della Mae Custer. Following graduation from high school, Martha earned an advances degree in Cosmetology and spent several years working in Washington Courthouse, Ohio as a stylist to her adored customers. White in Washington Courthouse, she met and married the love of her life, Earl Verner Hickle. Martha spent the majority of her career serving as a Commission Clerk for several State of Ohio Governors. When Martha and Earl moved to San Francisco, California she spent several years working for, and retired from, Colonial Savings and Loan. After 20 years residing in San Francisco, Martha and Earl moved to Austin, Texas to live closer to their daughter, son-in-law and grandsons. When her daughter and family moved to Europe, Martha and Earl enjoyed their numerous trips to Europe to see family and the world. Martha and Earl moved to Atlanta, Georgia after 6 years living in Austin. Martha led an extremely full and beautiful life, She cherished her close relationship with her daughter, Sandy Sue; they were best friends who enjoyed all experiences of life together. Family is everything to Martha – her relationship with her grandsons and great grandchildren brought her so much joy. Martha truly valued all of her friendships including the many friends she made at the Orchards, had a love for travel, and was a passionate sports fan who rarely missed watching an Atlanta Braves game. Martha is preceded in death by her parents, Paris and Della Mae Custer; her beloved husband, Earl Hickle, and five siblings, Paul, Mary, Leah, Walt and Jimmy. Martha is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Dick Nance of Roswell, Georgia; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Brady and Evelyn Nance of Atlanta, Georgia; grandson, Steven Nance of Roswell, Georgia; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Nance, Emma Nance and Alexis Nance; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held at Roswell United Methodist Church in Roswell, Georgia (Martha as a member) on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 11:00 am followed by a reception at the Orchards at Crabapple clubhouse.
