Mrs. Mary S. Gannon

Mary S Gannon, 95, of Marietta, GA passed away on December 4, 2017. Born in Clinton, New York, to loving parents, Peter and Anelia Krol Szlosek, she was one of ten children. She was predeceased by her parents, three brothers and three sisters. Mary was a graduate of Clinton High School and attended Excelsior School of Business. For 20 years, she was employed as a school secretary in the Clarkstown, NY school district, never having missed a day of work. Her coworkers described Mary as always having a smile on her face, a friend to everyone. In 1991, she and her husband Frank (deceased in 2014) retired and moved to Cocoa Beach, FL, residing in Harbor Isles Condominiums. Mary, a strong, funny and genuine person, loved her family and inspired them to always be their best. She is survived by Maureen (Gary) Slater, Gina (Tammy Caldwell) Gannon, Chris (Ann Marie) Gannon, Dennis (Martha) Gannon and Marcia (Russell) Black. She is also survived by her dear grandchildren Ryan, Kyle, Rachel, Kaitlynn, Lauren, Mary Grace and Patrick, her sisters Ann Barnes, Helen Esposito and Wendy Zatwarnicki and many nieces and nephews. As a wonderful cook, Mary hosted many St. Patrick's Day parties for her friends and neighbors. An accomplished artist, she was a past member of the Brevard Watercolor Society. Additionally, Mary was secretary of the Cocoa Beach Boating Club, member of the Navy League, Power Squadron and Life Member of the Bardonia Parent Teacher Association. Mary and Frank enjoyed sailing and were winners in many races. Their sailboat continues to be in use by their son, Chris, and his family in Maryland. Mary's great sense of humor was fortunately passed on to her children which resulted in many get togethers filled with fun, laughter and love. As long as she resided in Florida, she was a devout member of Our Savior's Church where she was a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society and a Bingo volunteer. In 2015, Mary moved to Parc at Piedmont, Marietta, GA, where she lived independently. She immediately felt welcomed by the community and made many new friends. At Parc, Mary continued her watercoloring, card playing and many other fun activities. A memorial mass will be celebrated at Our Savior’s Church, Cocoa Beach, FL at a later date. In Mary’s memory, donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Our Savior's Church, 5301 N. Atlantic Ave., Cocoa Beach, FL 32931.
