Mrs. Myrthes A. Silverman

Myrthes Aparecida Silverman, age 78, entered Heaven’s gates on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. She was born to the late Rokue Silva and Maria Araujo Silva in Carapicuíba, Brazil. Myrthes moved to the United States at the age of 26 and proudly became a United States citizen in 1975. She married the late Gerald Seymour Silverman in 1968 and they built their home in Danbury, Connecticut. Myrthes is survived by her son, Howard J. Silverman and his wife, Lisa Silverman and their children, Cole and Kennedy Silverman from Alpharetta, Georgia. Her daughter, Jennifer A. Donovan and her husband, Daniel E. Donovan and their children, Daniel (DJ) and Sean Donovan from Danbury, Connecticut. Her grandchildren lovingly referred to her as Vovó. They were her pride and joy and brought her many laughs. Nothing made her happier than when her entire family was together. She also leaves behind three siblings, nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins and friends from Brazil. Myrthes worked at DRS Corporation for over 25 years as a technician, wiring cabinets for naval submarines. Myrthes was also an extremely talented seamstress. She would alter clothes for friends and family, including designing and creating prom dresses for her daughter and her friends. She even made her daughter and daughter-in-law’s wedding gowns. Myrthes was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She is well known for her Brazilian meat, potato salad, baked bread, rice and beans, and a variety of Christmas cookies. Myrthes had an unwavering faith in God and prayed her rosary daily. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and would constantly pray for friends and family who were in need. She lived according to her favorite bible verse, Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” The family wishes to thank all of those who lovingly cared for her during her illness, especially Agape Hospice Care, Northside Hospital Forsyth, and North Point Pulmonary Associates. Additionally, the family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff and residents of Cottonwood Estates in Alpharetta who graciously welcomed her and became her friends in her final months. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Northside Chapel, 12050 Crabapple Road Roswell, Georgia. A private family interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery. Those wishing to make donations in Myrthes’ memory can send them to Agape Hospice Care, 1395 S.
