Mr. Raphael Ricardo DeMetz

Rafael Ricardo DeMetz, fondly known as "Rick/Ralph" of Alpharetta, GA, passed away on November 8, 2019 at the age of 76. Ralph was born on June 27, 1943 in Manhattan, New York to Raymond and Gwendolyn DeMetz. He was the first born and only son, growing up with his younger sister Margo in Bronx, New York. He graduated from Evander Childs High School in Bronx, NY. Graduating from the College of New Rochelle, he received his Bachelors of Arts in 1978. He had a long career in medical diagnostic and pharmaceutical sales transitioning into real estate later in life. In 1966, he married Renee S. Waters. His 3 children, David, Derek and Stephanie along with his partner until death, Renee, were his world. Family was the center for Ralph. He taught his family that no matter what happens in life, you stick with, support and love your family. He showed unconditional love to his wife, children, grandchildren and all those for which he cared. He exemplified these values until God called him home. Ralph had a multitude of interests and pursuits in life. He had a great appreciation for music of all kinds. His vast collection of vinyl records was rivaled by only a few. Billiards was a passion that allowed him to spend quality time with his friends and family; there was always healthy competition. Ralph was frequently found behind one of his many cameras as he loved to capture images that would be cemented in time. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, reading and anything that involved his family. Ralph had an affinity for culinary delights. There was not a rich, decadent dessert that he didn't like. Consuming delectable edibles, he shared his global palate with his family and friends, introducing many to foods from different cultures. Most days you would find him in one of his Hawaiian print shirts, which was his signature look. He always longed to be at the Beach, his earthly place of peace. The people who will carry on his legacy are his wife, Renee; his three children David, Derek and Stephanie; his 3 grandchildren Alexander, Arianna and Alyssa; his sister Margo; his brothers-in-law Richie and Burke and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by family, friends and all who knew him.
