Suzanne "Suzy" Pink May

Mrs. Suzanne “Suzy” Pink May, age 73, of Flowery Branch, GA passed away Sunday, October 9, 2022. Suzy was born on July 6, 1949 in Queens, New York, the daughter of the late Hans and Ann Pink. Suzy moved to Atlanta as a child, where she later married Ron May in 1967. The 29-year marriage was blessed with two children: Christopher Hans (1968) and Andrew Neal (1990). Her love for animals started at a young age and later led to her breeding and showing dogs (cocker spaniels) as well as horses at a national level for over 20 years. Suzy loved to travel and went to Europe on several occasions with her family. She also traveled all over the US – Colorado and Wyoming had a special place in her heart. In 2001, she married William H. “Bill” Johnston. After getting married in Africa, Suzy and Bill traveled often and enjoyed life on Lake Lanier until Bill passed away in 2006. Suzy loved to cook. She picked up some favorite dishes from her mother but also took professional cooking classes. She was especially well known for her rum cakes. Suzy had a knack for connecting with people, and she touched many lives with her quick wit and humor. She knew how to pool resources and was always trying to help others. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of her family, close friends and even the doctors who treated her in later years. Through many serious health issues, Suzy persevered and was described by many as “determined” and “tough.” Despite all her medical challenges, she set her heart and mind to be baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and did so in 2012. She became very close with her local Gainesville, GA congregation, devoting as much times as she could in service to her loving God Jehovah. In addition to her parents, Suzy is preceded in death by her second husband, Bill Johnston. She is survived by her first husband, Ron (Sue) May; sister, Linda (Oliver) King and two loving children: Chris (Linda) May of Griffin, GA; Andrew (Elaina) May of Gainesville, GA, grandchildren, Zoé, Aria and Evie, nieces and nephews, and many friends. The memorial will take place at 1:30pm on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 5051 Stephens Rd, Gainesville GA 30504.
