Thomas Edward Rubright

Beloved husband and father Thomas Edward Rubright, 54, of Alpharetta GA passed away in his home surrounded by family on July 15, 2013 after a 14 month long fight with kidney cancer. Tom Rubright was born on October 9, 1958, in Reading, PA, Robert W. and Jeanette A. (Loeper) Rubright, of Wyomissing, the third of four sons. He leaves behind a loving family: Andra, his wife; 4 children, Robert Thomas Palmer of Alpharetta; Thomas Edward Rubright Jr. and wife Erin Rubright of Cumming, GA; Timothy William Rubright of Alpharetta GA; and Alexis Susann Palmer of Alpharetta. Three awesome brothers: Robert M., husband of Ann Rubright, Ellicott City, MD; James A., husband of Judy Rubright, Sinking Spring and John P., husband of Joann Rubright, Tampa, FL, and seven nieces and nephews. Tom was a graduate of Governor Mifflin High School in 1976 and earned his Bachelor's degree in business management from Alvernia University in 1980. Tom was employed for 35 years at UPS. During Tom’s long career at UPS he served as Security Director, Project Director and a variety of operations management positions within the company. His most recent assignment was as Director of Operations for UPS Capital. Tom made many friends throughout the company. He was thought of as a strong leader, coach and mentor for many UPSers that sought him out over the years for his compassion and support; many of whom called him “Captain” out of respect. Tom could be tough when he needed to, but always stood by with a ready hand to help. Tom was proud to be a UPSer and he served the company well. His friends and partners there will miss him and remember him well. Tom was a great friend to anyone and everyone, no matter what walk of life. It was his kind heart that his wife, Andra, fell in love with. When Tom and Andra married in 1998, they immediately merged two families into one seamlessly. Tom exuded patience and respect in his parenting abilities. A selfless man and a loyal husband, he was quick to always put his wife and children’s needs above and beyond anything else. Tom instilled within his children a love for laughter, boating, dancing and simply having fun. There was never any doubt that Tom loved life and intended living it to its fullest every day. Although Tom was a resident of Alpharetta for 19 years, he never lost his passion for his hometown teams: the Phillies and, most especially, the Eagles. No matter where he happened to be, Tom never missed a game, never missed a down. He knew the schedule and the channel to find them; finding a TV regardless of the occasion to watch his beloved Eagles. Football season will never be the same without Tom yelling at the television that he could coach better than Andy! A husband, father, brother, son, friend, colleague, leader, mentor, neighbor – Tom Rubright will be truly missed by many. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Kidney Cancer Association.
