Mr. William MacMartin

William Sherman MacMartin, age 90 passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 5, 2020 in Alpharetta, Georgia .Bill was born in Bay City, Michigan to E.G. “Mac” and Dode on April 18, 1929. He graduated from Midland High School in 1947. After completing his bachelor degree, he served in the Army working in reconnaissance in Germany after the war. Upon his return, he completed his masters degree in Business Administration at the University of Michigan. Building upon his Business degrees, Bill spent much of his life self-employed. In the late 60’s,he and his first wife Jodi moved their family to Southwest Michigan. He owned Cast-Matic in Stevensville and later was a manufacturing representative for various companies including Supreme Die Cast and Wollin Products. In the mid-80s, Bill and Jodi parted ways. Then in the early 90’s, he married Gloria and together they retired to the warmth of the Florida sun. Bill enjoyed spending time around water and lived in places where he could enjoy boating including northern Michigan, Michiana and the Charlotte Harbor area in Florida. He was also an avid golfer and enjoyed many years of retirement in a golf community in Florida. Survivors of his blended family include his wife Gloria, who lost her best friend; his children Lisa (Terry), Cameron, and Scott (Sandra) from his first marriage to Jodi; his step children Jeff, and Cally (Ralph) from his marriage to Gloria; Grandchildren Brittany (Mitchel), Ashley, Ian, Lena, Alec and Lucas; Great Grandchildren Elias, Ava, Isaiah, and Ariya. In addition to his family, Bill had countless close friends who will cherish the good times they had with him. In accordance to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life open to family and friends will be held in Southwest Michigan this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages individuals to make a donation in Bill's honor to The American Heart Association or a charity of your choice. Bill will be remembered for his quick wit, easy laugh and kind words. He was a compassionate man, always putting others before himself and was a source of joy to all those whose lives he touched. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
