Mr. Albert George Schmerge III
May 6, 1944 - December 23, 2021
On Thursday, December 23, 2021, Albert George Schmerge III, passed away at the age of 77. Al was an incredible husband and father, a dedicated grandfather, and a faithful friend. Those fortunate enough to have known him, saw his unwavering faith, fierce persistence, and quiet disposition. These attributes were evident in both his personal and professional life as he worked tirelessly to care for his employees and his clients/tenants/customers in his 50 plus years as the owner and operator of a successful commercial real estate company. Perhaps Al’s greatest achievement was the love story between he and Judi and the 55 years they were married. Al was happiest seeing his children enjoying time together and would often laugh so hard he would cry. With six surviving children, during family prayers, Al would always pray for his children, and children’s children to seven generations. Al loved fast cars, Villanova basketball, a good cheeseburger, cracker thin pizza, a well thought out prank, and deep friendships. He was always eager to enjoy a good sunset and crisp glass of wine with his bride and all who cared to join him. As in life, Al passed fighting to stay with his family he so loved, especially his wife, Judi. During his last several months, he constantly remarked to anyone who would listen how lucky he was to have his family. Those surviving him would argue they are actually the lucky ones–to have experienced firsthand, a life well lived. “Even so, every tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit…Therefore by their fruits you will know them.” Matthew 7:17, 20 Al is preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Sue, brother Tony, and son JR (Albert G. Schmerge, IV). He is survived by his wife, six children, twelve grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. In lieu of a wake, condolences for the family will be received the evening of Thursday, January 6th at 7pm at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church located at 11330 Woodstock Road, Roswell, Georgia 30075. The funeral service will be held the following day at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church located at 11330 Woodstock Road, Roswell, Georgia 30075 on Friday, January 7th, 2022 at 2. The service will be live-streamed via https://youtu.be/R5jGOG5Fb98 Flowers and/or donations, in Al's honor, are greatly appreciated. Al was passionate about these two charities during his life and would love to see their mission furthered: Our Lady of Perpetual Help 760 Pollard Blvd. Atlanta, GA 30315 Missionaries of the Poor PO Box 29893 Atlanta, GA 30359 View slideshow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5jGOG5Fb98
