Charles W. Suggs

“To live in the hearts of those we leave behind is not to die" ... So it is with full and grateful hearts that we remember the life of our beloved Charles Wesley Suggs. After a brief illness, Charlie passed away peacefully on September 19th with the full knowledge of how deeply he is loved. Ever independent, Charlie lived out his 89 years to the fullest. After serving in World War II, Charlie was married to the love of his life, Doris, for 63 years. He was blessed with two sons, Wes and Joey. In 1957 Charlie and his family moved to Atlanta from South Carolina , where he worked for Sonoco paper company till retirement in 1985. Charlie will forever be remembered as a wonderful, generous and a kind Christian man. He enjoyed, above all else, his family; his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren and his faithful companion, his dog Jack. Charlie loved visiting with family and friends, often over a home-cooked meal he prepared with vegetables from his garden. Charlie took great pride in his relationship with God, and embodied his beliefs in his actions. He was graciously understated and wonderfully gentle. While we grieve at the loss of Charile, we are forever grateful for the overwhelming love and support he gave to us in his long and beautiful life. We are so blessed and proud to be a part of his life, his love and his legacy. Charlie is preceded in death by his wife Doris Suggs. He is survived by his two sons, Charles Wesley Suggs, Jr and his wife Judy, Joseph Suggs and Janice Whitiner; Grandchildren Andy Suggs and his wife Susie. Katie Glasscox and her husband Jonathan. Great-grandchildren Parker Suggs, Taylor Mordecai, Walker, Amelia and Jack Glasscox. And of course, his dog Jack. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 21 at 12:00 PM at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors. Dr. Rob Bradley officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday morning 10:30 – 12:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
