Mrs. Mangala Nageshaiah

Mrs. Mangala Nageshaiah, who was 88 years old and a resident of Roswell, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her residence on May 6, 2021. Mrs. Nageshaiah spent her early childhood years in Tumkur, Karnataka, India, where she was born. She was the eldest child of Mr. Biligere Ramachandra Rao and Mrs. Seethamma. She completed High School in Tiptur, Karnataka, India and earned her Bachelor of Arts from Government College, Tumkur, India. After marriage, she earned her Bachelor of Education degree from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar in Orrisa, India. She was formally schooled in Carnatic Vocal Music and passed her Junior Proficiency Exam at the young age of twelve. Like many others of her generation, she was an active citizen participant in the independence struggle of India known as the Quit India Movement. Mrs. Nageshaiah worked as Nursery and Elementary School teacher for 17 years at D.A.V. Jawahar Vidya Mandir in Ranchi, India before retiring to be a homemaker and pursue her passion for music and the fine arts. She was beloved by her students and colleagues and often reminisced fondly about her years as a teacher. She immigrated to the United States with her husband in 2005 to be close to her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 66 years Mr. Nageshaiah V. Melkote, her daughter Mrs. Shruti K. Rayan and her family, her son Mr. Shreyes N. Melkote and his family, and her three sisters and three brothers and their families. A funeral service service will be held: May 9, 2021, 2:30 p.m. at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors and Crematory, 12050 Crabapple Rd., Roswell, GA 30075.
