Mr. Neil William Anderson

July 22, 1995 - November 7, 2021

Neil came to Atlanta in August 2021 from Sydney Australia after working with the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organization (ANSTO) to integrate a solar simulator into a small angle neutron scattering (SANS) setup for in situ UV-visible spectroscopic measurements. Prior to his time at ANSTO, Neil completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with honours and Chemistry at Macquarie University. Neil was working towards his PhD in Material Science and Engineering and was a member of the Stingelin Research Group. During his time at Georgia Tech he studied the thermodynamic and optoelectronic properties of organic semiconducting polymers. Eventually, he aspired to construct an organic-based antineutrino detector for nuclear nonproliferation applications. Neil is described by his family and friends as an avid outdoors man who preferred to spend holidays traversing the Australian outback in his Toyota Hilux. He was driven, thoughtful and an outgoing individual who will be remembered by the joy he brought to others and the good times he shared with them.
