Mrs. Evelyn Marie Munkel

Evelyn, age 45, passed into the arms of Jesus on December 1st, 2022, surrounded by the love of her family. Evelyn was born March 9, 1977 in Granada Hills, California. She is survived by her husband, Kevin, her children – Isabel, Solomon, Madelyn and Caleb, her mother, Phyllis Barrett, stepfather, Gerald Srickland, and her sister, Arlene Hedgepath. Evelyn was predeceased by her father, Edward Varela. Diagnosed with ALS two years ago, Evelyn was purposeful to live her life to the fullest to the very end. She exuded joy and strength throughout her journey and her beautiful heart continued to shine through, even in the most difficult of times. Evelyn’s family was the most important thing in her life. Evelyn and Kevin were truly soulmates - that was clearly apparent to all who knew them. Evelyn was a gifted computer programmer and she loved her profession. She was an avid runner who completed many marathons. She treasured her time running in nature’s beauty. Evelyn had a true servant’s heart and was always ready to volunteer when she saw a need. She found great joy in taking an active role in her children's lives. She was a Girl Scouts and Scouts BSA leader for many years, enjoyed coaching basketball, and cherished spending time with the elderly as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. Evelyn’s sweet spirit, love of life and quirky sense of humor brought immeasurable happiness to all who knew her. Her beauty was easy to see both inside and out. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend who loved her family fiercely. Evelyn lived her life with exceptional strength and grace. Always loved, never forgotten and forever missed. She lives on in the hearts of all who love her…. A Celebration of Evelyn’s Life will be held at Northpoint Community Church in Alpharetta, GA on Friday, January 6th at 1:00 PM. Evelyn’s steadfast faith gave her comfort and strength throughout her battle with ALS. She loved the passage below and had it framed by her bedside. Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
