Mrs. Gloria Cagle

Gloria Ann Cagle went to her eternal home on January 28, 2015 where she was met at the pearly gates by her son James David Cagle Jr., her parents Mr. and Mrs. Hershal Waters, and her heavenly father. Gloria was born July 11, 1931 in Atlanta, Georgia. She attended Hoke Smith High School in Grant Park where she was a majorette and a beautiful young lady. It was here that she had attended a social gathering of the local high schools and met what would soon be her beloved husband, J. Douglas Cagle. Gloria and Doug married on January 21, 1950 at Grant Park Baptist Church making them have just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Shortly after, Gloria and Doug welcomed their two young boys who were just a short seventeen months apart. Needless to say, two boys under the age of two kept Gloria quite busy, as Doug Sr. was immersed in his career with Cagle’s Inc. and making a way for his family. Doug Jr. and David were truly her pride and joy! Much of the boys’ childhood was spent attending horse shows as Gloria and Doug were heavily involved in the Tennessee walking horse community where the boys both showed the horses. Gloria had a true passion for her animals whether it be these horses, her dogs, or even her barn cats. She was the most caring person who was always so selfless whether it was on behalf of someone else or an animal. She absolutely loved her dog, Homer, a shih tzu that was right by her side at all times. Gloria was also known by her family as a master in the kitchen. A few of her specialties that will never be forgotten were here potato salad, deviled eggs, chili, and amazing cookies. Needless to say, you never left Gloria’s kitchen hungry! Gloria possessed a true shopping skill set. Kohl’s will definitely miss her as she might have won the Shopper of The Year Award! If it was on sale, she was going to buy it whether she needed it or not! She was the most loving woman and her love didn’t stop with her husband and children. She is survived by five grandchildren who she took on Disney cruises, epic Christmas shopping trips, and attended endless sporting events. Gloria would be described by those who love her as sweet, loving, self less, and truly inspirational. Any of us would feel honored if our loved ones described us in that way. As said in 2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.” Gloria truly has exemplified this. Although those of us here will miss her dearly, we find great comfort in knowing all of this is true, she did fight the good fight, she finished the race, and she kept the faith. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Sandy Springs Christian Church. Please join us in celebrating Gloria’s life at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors at 12050 Crabapple Road in Roswell, GA. There will be visitation on Friday, January 30, 2015 from 6pm-8pm. The funeral service will follow on Saturday January 31, 2015 at 11am.
