Mrs. Marguerite Parker Dailey

Peggy Dailey died peacefully at home with her loving husband of 73 years at her side on May 26, 2017 in Alpharetta, GA. Born Marguerite Virginia Parker, in Portsmouth, VA. on January 17, 1920. Peggy attended Saint Joseph Academy in Portsmouth, VA. She later moved with her mother and father, two sisters and one brother to Willoughby Spit on Ocean View in Virginia, where she attended Holy Trinity School until high school graduation. She was then employed by the Norfolk Southern Railroad Company on E. Main St. in Norfolk, VA. in the traffic department. She married Lt. (jg) Franklyn E. Dailey Jr. USN at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City on April 1, 1944. Peggy is survived by her husband Frank, eight children and spouses Franklyn III and Patricia, Michael and Maureen, Philip and Sally, Elizabeth Kvam & Michael Bungey, John and Cindy, Paul, Thomas and Francis Rowe, Vincent and Naviza. In the course of the life of a military couple, Peggy Dailey made a loving home for her family in 16 home sites before settling in Wilbraham, MA. for 45 years. In later years she resided with her husband Frank at the home of their son, Dr. Michael Dailey and his wife Maureen in Alpharetta GA. later living at Atria in Alpharetta GA Peggy Dailey made friends at all the stops in her married life and kept up friendships until her passing. Peggy was sharp witted with a great sense of humor. A voracious reader who kept up with politics. Peggy understood the world view. She was a long time volunteer on the Bloodmobile for the Red Cross. Peggy accepted everyone for who they were and always had a kind word. Her southern heritage and grace was always evident in her thankfulness to those who helped her. One of her fondly recalled moments was meeting Mother Theresa in San Diego, CA. in 1960. Peggy was devoted to her church and family. She is survived by her husband, 8 children, 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. She will be buried at the Dailey – Parker family plot in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Wilbraham, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Saint Cecilia's Church in Wilbraham, MA. or Saint Peter Chanel in Roswell, GA. or the Red Cross.
