Mr. Paul Arlo Scholfield

Paul Arlo Scholfield, 81, of Milton, Georgia passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022. Paul was born on January 12, 1941 in Freeport, Illinois, to the late Keith Rawlings Scholfield and Mary Denton Simmons Scholfield. He was raised in Moline, Illinois, where his Dad was an engineer for John Deere Corporation. Paul graduated from the University of Dubuque and subsequently enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where he served as an officer until 1969. During that time in Houston he completed a MBA and met his future wife, Linda Knight. He was extremely proud to have served his country and of his identity as a veteran. He and Linda were married in 1970 and had two daughters who were raised outside Philadelphia. He worked as a hospital administrator for the University of Pennsylvania. Paul loved travel and the family had wonderful adventures in Great Britain and Europe. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan and loved attending games. He loved watching all sports whether college or professional. A lifelong Methodist, Paul was always involved in his local church. He enjoyed participating in bible studies and faith based groups. He was known for his friendly disposition and infectious, loud laugh. He was extremely generous to all. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Jack and Keith Duane. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda, his sister, Sherill Shreefer, daughters Christin Ellingsworth (John) of Portland, Maine and Suzanne Werner (Jonathan) of Milton, Georgia. He loved his five grandchildren: Madison and Georgia Ellingsworth; Hannah, Henry and Lorelei Werner. He deeply valued family both immediate and extended and all of his friends. There will be a Celebration of Paul’s life on Wednesday, November 30 at 10:30 AM, at the Birmingham United Methodist Church, 15770 Birmingham Highway, Milton, Georgia 30004. There will be a reception to follow the service at the church. Private Interment will occur at the Georgia National Cemetery on Thursday, December 1.
