Mr. Ray Hanna

Raymond (Ray) Henry Hanna, 74, of Woodstock, Georgia passed away September 25,2019. Ray was born February 13, 1945 in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of Samuel and Rose Jordan Hanna.Ray graduated from Boardman High School in 1963 and attended Youngstown State University. Ray spent the majority of his professional career (32 years) working for Worthington Industries. He held a variety of management positions and worked his way to become General Manager in Salem, Ohio, in 1990. He moved his family to Cincinnati, Ohio, during this time. He and Judi also had a second home in Naples, Florida. He finished his career working for CK Technologies in North Carolina. Ray officially retired in 2010. He and Judi moved to Naples in 2011. In 2014 Ray and Judi made their permanent residence in Atlanta, GA. Ray loved baseball and his favorite team was the New York Yankees. He especially loved coaching youth baseball, which he did for 5 decades. During those 40+ years he coached his daughters’ softball teams, son’s little league and Pony league teams and his grandson’s little league teams. Ray married Judi Nussbaumer on April 15th, 1967. They just celebrated their 52nd wedding Anniversary. Ray and Judi have three children: Laurie (Mike) Carlton of Roswell, GA; Renee (Dave) Fischer of Mason, OH and Jason (Stacy) of Cincinnati, OH. They have nine grandchildren: Jason, Will, Henry, Hanna, Raymond, Mary Helen (Carlton) and Caroline, John and Emily (Fischer). Ray leaves behind four siblings: Dolores Texter, Joseph Hanna, Robert Hanna and Elaine Williams, all of Youngstown, OH. He has three Godchildren: Christopher, Christine and Karissa. Ray was a devout Maronite Catholic. He attended Cursillo in 1978 in Youngstown where he served on many teams, was rector and was involved in Ultreya for 41 years. Ray continued to serve the many parishes to which he belonged as an usher, lector, greeter, Family Life member, Parish Council, Christ Renewals His Parish, Pre-Cana and many other ministries. He always arrived to church early, sat in the front and he prayed the rosary everyday. Ray was also a fourth degree Knight of Columbus. Ray was a family man, he loved a good laugh, spending time with his grandkids and watching old western movies. Ray enjoyed playing card games with the neighbors and he was an original member of the Hanna/Carlton/Fischer Football Pool. He lit up a room when he walked in, he always had a positive attitude and he found the good in everyone. He had the best smile. Ray was very proud of his Lebanese and Italian heritage. Besides his parents, his Niece/Goddaughter, Christine Hanna and two brothers-in-law, David Texter and Chuck Williams, preceded Ray in death. Ray’s calling hours are Sunday, September 29th, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Northside Chapel in Roswell, GA. Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, September 30th at Saint Peter Chanel Catholic Church, also in Roswell, GA. There will be a 40-day Mass for Ray at St. Maron’s Church in Youngstown, OH, at a later date.
