Steven Michael O'Loughlin

Steven Michael O'Loughlin passed away at his home on October 27th surrounded by loved ones. A memorial service will be held at Northside Chapel in Roswell, Georgia on Saturday, November 5th at two o'clock in the afternoon, followed by a light reception. Steve was born in Meriden, Connecticut on September 25, 1954 to John Kirby (Jack) and Janet (Tag) O'Loughlin. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Puget Sound in 1977, receiving high honors for his work in ceramics. He devoted his life to the creation of unique and masterful works of art in various mediums. Steve's creative talent was immeasurable and his imaginative spirit vast. Today, his works of art are appreciated and enjoyed in countless homes and galleries across the country. On September 1, 1984, Steve married his soulmate and the love of his life, Sarah Dale Leininger. Together they created their two most inspiring and beautiful masterpieces, their sons, Brian Kirby and Michael Dale. The boys brought boundless joy, love and delight to their lives. In 1995, they settled in Alpharetta where they have spent many happy years. Steve spent countless hours coaching his boys' baseball teams and enjoying all their sporting endeavors. He was their biggest fan. Beyond being an artist, Steve was a kind and gentle soul who loved his wife, sons, and family (including his best four-legged friend Boss), with his whole heart and being. He was an avid sports fan and loved music, plants, the library, and the simple yet majestic beauty of God's creation in nature. In addition to his wife Sarah and sons Brian and Michael (Janna), Steve is survived by his grandson, Jaxon, whom he loved dearly, his mother Janet, his two brothers, Bob (Laurie) and John (Kelly), his sister Pat Cameron (Dave), as well as all his nieces and nephews who knew him best as "Unkie Steve." Steve was predeceased by his loving father, Jack. Steve's wife and family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the compassionate and caring staff of Bridgeway Hospice for their kindness and superior care.
